The Language & Culture for Employment Project (LACE) is a project that runs from November 2009 until December 2012. It offers support to organisations delivering language and culture training financed under the European Social Fund (ESF) across the East of England. It achieves this by promoting the availability of ESF-funded activity to employers and developing & collating resources to support language training. It also achieves this by using the extensive network of business contacts which RLN East possesses through both its history of working with local businesses and the links with business support organisations, in particular UK Trade & Investment.
The project ultimately aims to benefit a range of target groups, including SMEs, large companies, employer clusters, offenders and the unemployed. It also supports those organisations contracted to deliver language & culture training under ESF across the region.
The project works in particular with the East of England Development Agency (EEDA), the National Offender Management Service (NOMS), the Skills Funding Agency, JobCentre Plus and Luton Borough Council.
The project will promote the opportunities created through the use of European training funds to meet employer demand, and to assist job opportunities and economic growth and investment in people across the East the England.
