Launch of Virtual Campus Pilot

Launch of Virtual Campus Pilot

26/04/2012 11:00 - 15:00
Where: Stirling House, Stradbroke, Suffolk

The launch of the catering and cleaning English language resources at pre-entry and entry 1 levels for the Virtual Campus takes place at Stirling House prison training centre next to Highpoint South prison near Stradbroke in West Suffolk on 26 April. This is a secure event, and participants will need to register in advance.

Funded by the European Social Fund (ESF), the Skills Funding Agency and the National Offender Management Service (NOMS), this pilot aims to help offenders overcome barriers to employment in the catering & cleaning industries caused by a lack of language skills, both in prison and post-release.

The pilot, managed by RLN East in partnership with HMP Lewes, HMP Bulwood Hall, HMP Bure and Meganexus, runs from Dec 2011 to Mar 2012 and aims to adapt current paper-based language training resources into an interactive online format for inclusion in the national prison Virtual Campus.

Those for whom this event will be of interest include prison governors, prison industry and education managers, and staff from NOMS and Skills Funding Agency offender teams.
