From left to right the RLN-East team comprises of:
Emma Sharp, International Communications Advisor.
Emma is responsible for advising companies in Cambridgeshire and West Norfolk, and also liaises with sub-regional economic partnerships and other key government institutions. She is our link to the East of England Regional Assembly, where she also works as Senior European Policy Officer. Emma has worked for the Federation of Small Businesses, the United Nations and 2 Paris-based law firms. Whilst in these last 2 roles she was responsible for translations and executive recruitment.
David Owen, International Communications Manager East of England.
David has spent the 7 years prior to his work at RLN East as specialist advisor for language & culture for business for 450 companies throughout the East of England as part of the region's largest funded language programme. He worked for 11 years for Courtaulds Chemicals & Fibres Group as language manager, as well as in Shanghai, China for 3 years with the Institute of Foreign Trade. He was executive Commercial Director of Gryphon International Ltd, family-owned textile distributors, exporting 45% of its products and importing textiles.
Martina Shorts, International Communications Advisor.
Martina is responsible for advising companies in Essex, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire on international communications. Martina is a qualified German lawyer and a foreign language correspondent in German, French, English and Spanish. Before joining RLN East she spent 5 years working within the central management team of a leading international law firm. During that period she was involved in developing the firm's international communications as well as its international strategy. Over the years, Martina has worked for businesses in Germany, France, Belgium and the UK, thus enabling her to gain an in-depth understanding of the cultural and linguistic issues.
